Wacom 12WX quick review (E-mailed question)

September 26th, 2008

Hi, great artwork.

I have a question for you about the new Wacom Cintiq 12WX,
cause I\’d like to buy one: Is it true that is dificult to draw in the limits of the surface, or that the surface isn`t as good as the intuos one. Also like to know if there\’s any delay when you draw or is it real time cause i\’ve seen videos where it seems to have a little delay when drawing ( but maybe its a matter of angle). Well thanks and hope you can tell me this cause I want to know I should buy this one or continue with my intuos 3.
bye
Leuz

Hi,

I’ll give you a short review about the 12WX, in my opinion is the best tablet I have ever used, is completely different from the regular tablets like the Intuous 3 as you have more control on the strokes so you can enjoy more the process of painting while consuming much less time, the workflow is much more natural and artistic, one drawback is that it’s not as portable as it’s shown, mainly because you need a bunch of cables to connect the tablet, currently I’m working using a Macbook Pro 5.6 Ghz and I find it tedious connecting and disconnecting the device since I can’t connect two screens at the same time, but that’s just my case. about the tablet response I have to say it’s not as precise in the limits as it’s on the center of the tablet, however, you shouldn’t worry about that because you’ll be drawing most of the time in the center if you find any delay while working it must be due to the lack of memory or your computer tech specs, I own a Intuos 3 myself but since I got the Cintiq I haven’t use it at all and I don’t think would want to draw again on it, in short if you have the money and want to change the way you work for better then you should not think twice about it.

Cheers!

Some photos I took when I received my new Wacom 12WX :D

Time to relax and draw without worries or doubts…

I usually put some pressure on me to finish things with in a certain amount of time or worry myself thinking the purpose of the drawing, this time I did what I should do more often, draw… simply draw.

Hope you like it!

Ever since I did the original drawing back in 2002, I said to myself that I should draw something new based on that drawing,in fact, I did a sketch like one year ago and I was quite happy with the result, it was fresh but still it was too rough to apply color on it, ‘I’ll do it later’ I said, but as usual when I plan to draw something it gets lost in a pile of sketches.

Today is different I want to finish this one and make it great! I’ll post the color version as soon as it’s ready.

Hope you like it!.

How I feel…

August 11th, 2008

Important: This Text is a copy and paste from my Deviantart journal.

Ollie

First I would like to thanks to those who voted in the poll about journal, although I admit it’s rather silly to do that kind of polls, the reason why I did is because I really don’t know how to board a Journal, I always think to myself, should I write this or that, then I do anything and go to play some video games, which recently have been gathering dusk in the shelve.

I think I will start by writing more often about how I feel towards my art and the way I see things even if it generates controversy, what I find boring and mundane might be interesting to others, so I’ll give it a try.

One of the thing that I think a lot is how I’m doing with my art, currently, I feel like a secret agent with double personality, in one hand there is a regular pin up artist, whose artwork is mostly mature rated, on the other hand is the pervert artist who has a Pay site and draw weekly hentai illustrations to keep the site running. it’s a challenge for me to keep this to personalities balanced so I can do my work and art properly.

I know some will think it’s cool to draw hentai, but frankly sometimes I feel like I don’t want to draw more this kind of stuff anymore, I feel like factory producing art without any personal satisfaction. I ask my self if this is what I really want, I think it’s not, but if I see it as a job then it has some logic, people have to work to be able to eat and live, and that’s a fact no one can scape if you’re own your own like me.

I have to say that I have been asked so many weird questions and been sent many commission suggestions that reflex how sick some people can be, some I find funny while others quite disturbing, and I don’t blame them everyone have their bit of craziness inside, including myself, no one is perfect.

Personally I would like to draw more, spend more time practicing anatomy and try new things, but then I feel so isolated from the reality while drawing and I end up feeling lonely, I’ve been feeling like this most of these years, being alone doesn’t help you to keep the oil burning, I’ve been missing something.. I know what it is.. I have found it and lost it again and again.

Jigglygirls Website update is around the corner!

July 25th, 2008

Jigglygirls.com has been running for a year or more, the site has been growing gradually since I first opened as well the direction in the art has been shaped, However, the website is starting to look quite obsolete and not as professional as I would want it to look even when my first Idea was to make a clean designed hentai site without all the rubbish you get when you visit sites like this, so the idea is to start fresh again consolidating an overall design

Basically this means using a single character to represent the website as a mascot, something similar to what I’ve been doing with Alex, this is when Candela (character from the Jigglygirls logo) is refined and redesigned, she’ll be the main character behind the Jigglygirls.com website, this is not the only change coming to JG also I’m planned to redesign and improve the user experience within the member area, so those who are member and have been enjoying the website for sometime will enjoy this new features for sure. Stay tuned for the website update coming in August.!

You can get prints of these artwork in my shop!

Reiq’s Digital painting video tutorial

July 6th, 2008

OK guys, I just finished to upload the coloring tutorial, this time i’ll explain more about the way I work instead of talking of each tool I use, this is the second video of a series of 3 being the last one about photoshop illustration enhancements like textures, color balancing, and other techniques which I’ll publishing soon ( know I got better understanding of how to work with Final Cut) also while watching this keep in mind that this is not a basic tutorial but I’m sure you’ll get an idea of my workflow.

Also I apologize for my english, I’m still working on that one of the reason I didn’t want talk much about the tools is because I want to give answers to people instead of generating more questions.

If you want to download the whole video and in better quality please check this link.

Q. Did you do ALL the artwork for your jiggly girls website?
A. Yes, Jigglygirls.com is my Erotic and hentai art page.

Q. Do you Work for free?

A: Sorry, no. I’ve done that too much in the past and I’m not interested in coloring comics, draw characters and illustration in exchange to get published specially if these are amateur projects.

Q.What software do you use?
A. COREL PAINTER 9.5 , PHOTOSHOP CS2

Q.What Hardware do you use?

A. Wacom Cintiq 12WX, Apple Macbook Pro 15″ Intel core duo 2.6 GHz, 4GB SDRAM, Cinema display 20″ and an external Iomega harddrive of 1T.”.

Q.What kind of brushes do you use, can you send them to me?

Q.Do you have any tips for Digital art?

A. My advise is to read and research books, magazines (ImagineFX, Corel Painter Magazine, Photoshop magazine, etc), DVD tutorials etc those are the best source to learn from. Also I recommend to draw human and animal anatomy regularly I’m of the believe that If you can draw and shade with pencils you will learn quicker the digital way.

Also I recommend using photo references for any part of the body or object you can’t draw, eventually you will improve as soon as you know how to represent them in a paper a strong Drawing foundation leads to better understanding of how to work the digital tools.

Q.Can I Paint you line-art and put them in my website or Deviant art?

A. Sure, I have no problem at all if you want to paint the any pencils or B/W piece of my, I only request that the proper credits are given, like a link to my website, name, or link to the original. Also please link me to your image as I would like to see the final result.
